Indore (Madhya Pradesh): School Management Committees (SMCs) will be formed on September 9, 2021 in all government primary, secondary and secondary schools and assisted as directed by Director of Public Education Center Dhanaraju S.
The instructions stated that under the Right to Education Act (RTE), the SMC should be formed for better management of schools and implementation of educational activities.
“These committees play an important role in the multidimensional development of children with children’s schooling, regular attendance, quality education and infrastructure works. In this regard, detailed instructions have been given to collectors in all districts to ensure proper arrangements for the training of SMCs,” the instructions read.
The terms of the committees to be formed in approximately 90,000 elementary, middle and high schools combined in the state are set for the next two academic sessions.
In SMC, there will be 18 members. Members will include parents of children studying at the school; School’s director; the oldest teacher; the local ward panch/councillor; and a female panch/councillor from the other ward appointed by the sarpanch/president/mayor of the local body. In addition, the elected representatives will be involved and will have control of the SMC.
The chair and vice-chair of these committees will be chosen from among the parents of the students attending the school.
The school director will be the representative member and secretary of the committee. Local school management powers have also been delegated to these committees by the government.
Dhanraju urged parents and guardians of students studying in the government and supported schools to go to school on September 9, 2021 and join the SMC. SMC members will participate in school development work.
