Parents accuse school management of discrimination | News from Vadodara

VADODARA: Parents of students enrolled in the city’s Vibgyor High School contacted the District Education Officer (DEO) and the Fee Regulation Committee (FRC) on Saturday, also alleging that the school demands additional payment fee approved by FRC and Government of Gujarat.
In a representation to officials, the parents said the school was demanding higher fees than those approved by the FRC for the 2019-20 year. For the 2020-21 academic year, the state government had further announced a 25% fee reduction in the FRC-approved fee structure.
“But the school management is not ready to accept the decision of the FRC and the state government,” the parents said, adding that children whose parents do not approve of such requests are victims of discrimination.
“For a year now we have approved DEO and FRC but there is no resolution. Now FRC members have assured us that they will call a meeting of parents where the headmaster of the school will also remain present. The meeting was called on Tuesday with the assurance that all outstanding issues will be resolved in the presence of everyone,” said a parent, Prerna Gupta.
Another parent, who did not want to be identified, alleged that the school had created a separate section for children whose parents pay government-approved fees. “The work from home of these children is not monitored, we are also removed from WhatsApp groups,” said the aggrieved parent.
