Officers at 12:45 p.m. on October 18 stopped a vehicle for traffic violation after leaving the Super 8 Motel on Sperry.

Officers discovered two loaded handguns in the vehicle as well as suspected marijuana and a scale. None of the occupants were allowed to own a firearm due to previous felony convictions.

A 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both listing addresses in Cleveland, have been arrested on charges of weapons violation.

Evidence of improper handling of a firearm and disabled weapons will be presented to a Cuyahoga County grand jury, which will decide whether to issue an indictment containing evidence. formal charges in Common Pleas Court, according to a police press release.

Criminal warrants: Clemens Road

On October 15, an officer noted that the registered owner of a vehicle leaving the DoubleTree Hotel had received multiple felony arrest warrants and was driving under suspension.

The Jeep Patriot was stopped on Crocker Road in Detroit Road. The officer arrested the 21-year-old driver from Cleveland, who was also the owner, on four warrants. She was also cited for driving with suspension.

Suspected of burglary: Crocker Park

Westlake Police Department at 4:30 a.m. on October 18 received a call from Apple Store Security in Crocker Park indicating that a young man had attempted to open the store’s front doors.

When security appeared, he claimed he was looking to “use the phone.”

Response officers found a person entering a car in Crocker Park and stopped the car as they drove away. It was occupied by four people from Akron. They said they were visiting a friend in Crocker Park and were fired.

However, their story has not verified. Coordination with other agencies has linked the group to several break-ins in other jurisdictions.

Young adults are expected to be charged in connection with the incidents, according to a press release from the Westlake Police Department.
