Alumni group formed to support activities at Rock Falls High School – Shaw Local

ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls Alumni Association was officially formed on August 15, 2019 – but COVID-19 prevented the group from meeting face to face. The group waited until Monday to formalize its existence – and its mission.

The association’s mission is to promote the programs and activities of Rock Falls High School. It will encourage charitable contributions to maximize educational development opportunities for students.

The organization, as a 501(c)(3) charity, will also solicit funds and develop opportunities for alumni to stay connected with the community and with each other. It will also organize and sponsor events and forge a network of parents, teachers and community members.

Board members are President Lou Pignatelli, Vice President Ed Rein, Treasurer Pam Erby and Secretary Betty Clementz. Other board members are Gary Sandrock; Ron Stonitsch, Ryan Arduini, Ben Sondgeroth, Shay Moeller, Mary Jo Kobbeman and Brad Middleton. They will serve a three-year term.

Membership of the association is open to anyone wishing to support the school. Former students and employees of the district are welcome. To register, register online at rfhs301.org under the Alumni tab or print the form and mail it to Rock Falls High School Alumni Association, Rock Falls High School, 101 Twelfth Ave., Rock Falls, IL 61071.

The board’s first action was to establish a scholarship for any Rock Falls High School graduate pursuing post-secondary education and the amount will be determined annually. It will be presented at the school’s awards night.
